Honorary Staff Member - Monash University

Secretary of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Rheumatology Association

Editorial Board - Arthritis Research & Therapy

Dr Andrew Teichtahl is a senior staff specialist at the Alfred Hospital and the National Health and Medical Research Council Fellow at the Baker International Diabetes Institute. He is a Chief Investigator on two clinical trials funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). Dr Teichtahl has authored over 75 publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals examining osteoarthritis, gout, biological drugs and infections in immunocompromised patients. He has also authored several book chapters. Dr Teichtahl has been an invited speaker at both national and international conferences.

Dr Teichtahl was awarded his MBBS with Honours at The University of Melbourne whilst his Doctorate of Philosophy was completed at Monash University. Dr Andrew Teichtahl has also been awarded a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours (La Trobe University). Dr Teichtahl supervises higher degree students at Monash University and participates in training undergraduate medical students and advanced training in Rheumatology.

Andrew has a keen interest in adult rheumatology in both inflammatory and mechanical musculoskeletal health, as well as connective tissue disorders. The modern era of biological agents for the management of conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis has enhanced the life of many patients failing to respond adequately to conventional therapies.

Dr Andrew Teichtahl has admitting rights at Knox Private Hospital as well as consulting at four convenient locations.
